As many of you may know, my name is Christa Grauert and I am the Director of Community Outreach at the Denver Children's Advocacy Center. I started my internship there in 2017 and officially joined the team as an employee in 2018.
Many individuals ask why I got into this job in the first place. Although it is challenging, it is heavy and it is filled with stories of trauma, abuse and neglect, my answer is usually quite simple. I do what I do for the survivors, for their non offending family members who are experiencing their own path to healing, for justice and for the connections.
Doctor Bruce Perry once said, “The more healthy relationships a child has, the more likely he will be to recover from trauma and thrive. Relationships are the agents of change and the most powerful therapy is human love.”
Connection. Belonging. Healthy relationships. Being that one person in a child's corner who will never doubt them and continue to walk next to them on their therapeutic journey to healing. That is my why.
Please consider donating to the Denver Children's Advocacy Center so together we can continue fighting to end Child Abuse and Neglect.
