Childhood hunger persists year-round, but the summer months create one of the most visible and urgent gaps. When school cafeterias close, hundreds of children in Campbell County and across America lose access to the most reliable meal they receive all day.

Providing nourishment unlocks a future defined by possibility, strength, and shared prosperity for our local youth.

This July 4, in honor of America’s 250th anniversary, the Albertsons Companies Foundation’s Nourishing Neighbors program is launching Nourish the American Dream, a bold, nationwide, multi-year movement to help end childhood hunger once and for all.

The Edible Prairie Project is joining the campaign with other organizations across the country to nourish every child’s potential. This summer, we are on track to serve approximately 444 children over the 11-week summer break, providing kid-friendly, filling food bags that carry them through the weekend.

From July 1 to July 7, every dollar we raise supports our mission and contributes to Nourish the American Dream’s collective $5 million goal to help more children access the food they need to grow and thrive. During this week, the Albertsons Companies Foundation will match every dollar raised for the Edible Prairie Project, up to $2,500.
