Sybill's Story
Watch it here: https://youtu.be/7Z1RJjYi3Zw
Sybill is a young goat that was found wandering the streets of Weare, NH. A couple from Washington state visiting family in NH was just going out to get coffee and spotted a goat on the side of the road. They stopped and saw she was in terrible shape. While bringing her to a safe spot on the side of the road, Sybill collapsed from dehydration and exhaustion. They put a dog collar on her to keep her safe and offered her water which she gratefully drank. They called every local rescue and no one was able to help. They called the police who told them to leave her there because she was likely going to die. She was on a busy 50 mph road and kept trying to cross the road. She could of caused on accident but the police were unwilling to help. The couple would not accept this answer so they widened their google search and found us at Bark & Bray Sanctuary. Ben happened to answer the call and agreed to help. He could hear how desperate they were to help poor Sybill.
The couple drove her over an hour to us. We do not have other goats but luckily we had a secluded stall waiting for her. We gave her vet care and provided the critical care she needed while severely ill. She had a high fever, was full of parasites and is blind in one eye. She was treated with IV fluids, pain medication and antibiotics. This care continued for 3 days. Thankfully she recovered from this stage, but she still had a very long way to go. Her feet were in terrible condition and have never been trimmed and she needed to gain alot of weight. She was skin and bones. She required alot of care to help her recuperate. Despite her past, Sybill is a sweetheart. She loves people and wants to be around them 24/7. She is the friendliest goat around.
