Dear Reader,

Hi, my name is Mackenzie Cook, I'm 16 years old and live in Superior, WI. I want to help victims of Human Trafficking, so I started this fundraiser, please help me if you can!

This fundraiser is to support human trafficking victims and the teams that help the victims through all steps of their fight. I know that it is difficult for many people to donate money during the COVID-19 pandemic, but donations are needed now more than ever because the percentage of human trafficking has increased due to the pandemic and its economic effect on trafficking in all aspects, for example, at one point during the lockdown in India, 92,000 cases of child abuse were reported to authorities over the course of just 11 days and it’s not much different in the United States.

Before the pandemic, somewhere between 20 and 40 million people were enslaved around the world, most cases are hidden and go undetected and it’s not just children. Every year, millions of children, women, and men fall victim to traffickers for the purpose of exploitation.

This fundraiser runs from January 6th through January 31st with January 11th being national human trafficking awareness day. The goal of this fundraiser is to earn at least $3,000 by January 31st. Because very few state funds and legislation exist in WI to support and protect victims/survivors of trafficking all donations of any amount are VERY much appreciated and will go to CASDA  in Superior, WI.

Please wear blue to raise awareness in the month of January.

Sincerely,

Mackenzie Cook
