Update 9/7/24:
Check out the newly updated support website for more info and media: www.freejack.co
While still on 24 hr monitoring recently Jack has been given permission to leave the house for work and has been giving climbing lessons and doing contracting work. He is feeling strong and in good spirits despite the worry and uncertainty that accompany intense political repression.
While we are thrilled that Jack is home, the conditions of his bond remain costly and restrictive. The cash bond amount was set at $75,000, which was required for his release from jail. Legal fees are steep and mounting; $20,000 has already been spent for representation, and much more will be needed as the case progresses.
Update 5/12/24:
It has been a little over a month since Jack was released on house arrest and he is immensely grateful for all of the support he received while in jail and on his continued journey as he navigates his case. We are still raising money for his ongoing legal battle as well as living expenses while he is on 24 hour house arrest. Messages of support are greatly appreciated and can be sent to freejack(at)riseup.net. Thank you to everyone who has and continues to support Jack, we are so grateful to have such a beautiful community of friends.
Update 3/24:
A little bit about Jack:
Jack is a beloved community member living in Atlanta. He’s been an outspoken political activist for many years. He’s been an active member in multiple DIY music scenes. (Check out his band Creative Control!) He loves rock climbing, nature, and world history.
Please write to Jack and show your support. Let him know he is loved and supported! The best way for him to receive notes/letters of solidarity is by emailing [email protected]
When writing, please DO NOT mention the specific allegations or discuss the nature of Jack's case.
Jack loves rock climbing, history, philosophy, Zen Buddhism, poetry, hip hop, straight edge, punk, carpentry/DIY construction, sewing, he wants to hear anecdotes that felt special to you from just everyday things. You could write about a sunset or a wholesome gathering or a way a song made you feel.
