Design Action is an inter-generational coalition of BIPOC and white designers working to end racial inequities in the North American Theater by confronting racism in our workplace and forging new pathways into the industry for rising designers of color.

Your support will help us continue to create panels featuring BIPOC theatrical designers talking about their disciplines, panels for rising designers offering advice and support, mixers bringing rising designers into community with directors, production managers, producers and established designers.

Design Action is the author of Five Principles - our guiding document on anti-racist practices in the design field which has been distributed to prominent theater organizations to advise their anti-racism policy.

Design Action has collaborated with the American Theater Wing to create Springboard to Design - a summer program to mention and encourage BIPOC high school students in the process of theatrical collaboration and design.

Design Action has created a micro-grant program helping emerging Black and Indigenous American designers.
