Hi! My name is Henry, and this summer, I've been accepted as a student for LSM, the nation's premier faith-based music academy for high school students held on the campus of Valparaiso University.

Music has always been a big part of my life. Now I’m deciding between majors for college, I’m looking forward to this summer intensive that will give me a taste of college life and will surround me with musical learning – from singing to playing trumpet to music theory.

At LSM, I hope to grow as a singer, a trumpeter, and a child of God. I’ve been looking at many summer intensives, but one that combines faith and music seems perfect for me. My Godmother attended Valparaiso for one of her musical degrees, and my dad and voice teacher attended LSM when they were in high school. Based on that, I trust that the program will be a great opportunity.

I am very proud of my musical accomplishments as a singer and trumpeter. I earned a Perfect (100) Score on NYSSMA (2023), was selected for Area All-State Choir (2022), have sung in my church high school choir for three years, and I’m currently a Choral Scholar for St Joe’s parish choir. In school, I've sung in Concert Choir, Select Choir, and played trumpet in Concert Band, Jazz, and Marching Bands. I also have sung in school theatre productions including The Music Man (Ewart), Into the Woods (Baker), and, most recently, Beauty and the Beast (Beast).

I am fundraising to take responsibility for some of the cost this summer. When you work for things they mean more to you. Your support will motivate me to work hard for the four weeks I’m at the music intensive. The cost of the four-week LSM program is $2,495. LSM offers a 50% Match Grant (up to $500) to funds that students raise toward their tuition costs. The due date for the match is May 15. I'm hoping to raise at least $1,000 by May 15 to meet the full LSM Match Grant.

In addition to advanced musical instruction and numerous performance opportunities, LSM students form an intentional community, living together for four weeks on a college campus. Since 1981, this unique and immersive program has guided the lives of young musicians who credit LSM as the starting place for their future careers and vocations.
