But looking closer, you’ll remember that being a kid was often hard. How much time did you spend trying to fit in? Maybe wishing you were someone else?

Today’s kids share the same coming-of-age story but under the added weight of social media and a pandemic. And they’re experiencing fear, sadness, worry, loneliness, and disconnection.

Takodah is where kids come home to the best versions of themselves.

Driving down the camp lane, kids sense they’ve entered a special space.

Where they can slow down their rush to adulthood and release the chaos of the world.

Where the sights, sounds, and scents of nature renew their sense of wonder and imagination. And where old-fashioned fun creates lifelong lessons in confidence, character, and leadership.

Where they trade technology for some of the best friends they’ll ever have. And where our spirit of welcome reveals what’s buried deep inside them: they can just be themselves and everyone loves them just the way they are.

Many families cannot afford the camp experiences their kids deserve without our help.

Like all the Takodians who came before us, “Friendly to All” means ensuring no one is turned away from Takodah because of financial barriers. And last year, that meant raising enough money to send 141 kids in need to camp.

Our summer camp staff blew us away by donating $10,000 of their paychecks to our Campership Fund. Campers also rose to the challenge by donating $15,000 of their camp store money. And supporters like you generously donated the remaining funds needed to bring our mission to life.

Our Campership Fund is a quintessential example of the Takodah spirit: we spread kindness, we lift up one another, and we give back. And our work never stops. We have even more campers who need your support to attend Takodah this summer, and you have the power to help them create lives of love, happiness, and fulfillment.
