About Madeline’s Mission 💜

Madeline’s Mission was created by Kait and Gerard Norton in honor of their daughter, Madeline, who has been diagnosed with Pantothenate Kinase-Associated Neurodegeneration (PKAN), a rare and progressive neurodegenerative disease. Through Madeline’s Mission, they are bringing together family, friends, and their community to raise awareness, support research, and create hope for children and families affected by PKAN.

This event benefits the Loving Loic Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded by Sherine and Mark Blackford after their son, Loic, was also diagnosed with PKAN. United by a shared mission, Madeline’s Mission and the Loving Loic Foundation are working to accelerate the development of treatments and a cure for this devastating disease.

In just over two years, the Loving Loic Foundation has raised more than $2.5 million to advance groundbreaking gene therapy research led by Oregon Health & Science University and the Horae Gene Therapy Center at UMass Chan Medical School. These efforts are focused on moving a promising gene therapy from the laboratory into human clinical trials as quickly as possible.

Every dollar raised through this event will directly support the Loving Loic Foundation’s work to fund research, accelerate treatment development, and bring hope to families facing PKAN.
