Charles Taylor served 27 years in the United States Air Force. Alice Taylor spent more than 30 years as a paraprofessional in special education. Together they raised three children on one idea: that hard work in the classroom and hard work on the field were not two separate things.

In 2015, at the Mountain Home High School Athletic Hall of Fame dinner, their children announced a scholarship in their names. For nine years the family paid for it themselves — more than $15,000 to 20 Idaho scholar-athletes before a foundation existed.

In 2026 the program named 14 scholars across the state and awarded $17,000.

Every dollar of that came from an event that has to be run again next year, and the year after that.

This fund ends that.

An endowment spends only what it earns. The principal is never touched, so the award repeats every year without anyone having to raise it again. At $1,000,000, this fund produces roughly $40,000 every year, forever — more than double what the program awarded in 2026, and permanent.

Alice Taylor died having spent her life on other people's children. This is the version of the scholarship that keeps going after all of us.
