2025 Solstice Market Artist Application

Calling all artists who offer original, handmade, high-quality and gift-able work!

We want you to participate in the Solstice Market, a curated winter art market that serves to anchor our annual Solstice Lantern Walk in Hillsborough, NC! Learn more about Hillsborough's Solstice Lantern Walk here.

Solstice Lantern Walk is one of HAC's most beloved public events, with an expected participation of 5k+ visitors. This is a nondenominational, winter-themed event celebrating creativity and community while shining light into the darker, colder months, reminding us that warmer, brighter days lie ahead. This audience will most appreciate affordable, easy-to-transport work.

The Solstice Lantern Walk & Market is designed to be inclusive and welcoming to all cultures/religions, and we are looking for artists who complement that experience.

Solstice Market will take place on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 5-8 PM, under Hillsborough's Farmers Market Pavilion. The market will represent both before and after lantern walk celebrations.

In addition to local artists, Solstice Market will feature themed food & beverage vendors, live music, handmade lanterns, special programming, and more!

Because we can only showcase a limited number of artists, this will be a curated market experience. We will only be able to accept a select number of artists per medium.

Artists are invited to apply by Nov. 5, 2025! Application Fee: $15. Participation Fee (if approved): $60.

This is an excellent market for both emerging and established artists.

Please Note:

  • The nonrefundable one-time application fee for 2025 is $15.00. Pricing is subject to change in future programming years.
  • When submitting your application fee, you have an opportunity to tip the Givebutter platform. If you would like opt out of this, please reset the suggested tip to 0% before submitting your payment.
  • We do not accept payment in the form of checks.
