Support Team PVD Promise - Rhody Half Marathon & 5K!

This is a unique opportunity to support the post-secondary aspirations of Providence families.

Founded in 2017, Providence (PVD) Promise is a small nonprofit located in Providence, RI that supports the post-secondary aspirations of Providence Public School and Charter School students. PVD Promise is revolutionizing how local families plan and save for higher education with a unique, multi-pronged, and whole-student approach. PVD Promise partners with families to help them open 529 college savings accounts (CSAs) for each child in the household and provides $100 in seed funding to each new account, offers a robust incentive program in which enrolled students can earn up to $250 per month towards their college savings, and provides supplemental Family and Youth Engagement programming that is multidisciplinary, community-responsive, and bilingual in English and Spanish. Currently, there are nearly 1,300 students enrolled from 700 families who collectively hold $2.35M toward their educational futures. In 2024, PVD Promise facilitated over 100 workshops, events and meetings for 2,500+ participants (one-third of which was with community partners), and provided $225,000 in incentive awards directly to students CSAs.

PVD Promise has more than tripled in size since 2019. In order to support this growth, PVD Promise has increased its capacity to 7-full time staff and a $885,000 annual operating budget. We expect this trend to continue as we work hard to keep up with the significant, local demand for our services. Every dollar raised through this fundraising effort will go directly towards students' college savings.
