Yazhou Zu's Story
Hello Everyone,
My name is Yazhou. It is my first time participating in the San Francisco Escape-from-Alcatraz Triathlon. Hope you can support my race!
I was born in a city near Shanghai, China. I grew up in that area until I finished college, and then came to the U.S. for PhD. All my elementary school, high school, and college were within 1 hours by bike, car, or train from my home. The area is around the same latitude as Atlanta, and has a clear four-season seasonal pattern with high population density. The down-to-earth living vibe and lively life activites are just a can't miss if you travel to that part of east asia.
I started open-water swimming and triathlon around 4 years after I came to the bay area for work. Before that I've been swimming for 10+ years but have been a pool baby. Once I enter this community there's just no turning back. I'm constantly blessed by the endurance, courage, and self discipline provided by this hobby. I believe it is a life-changing experience for me.
Untill now I've done a NYC duathlon, a Morro Bay triathlon, a Texas 70.3 Ironman, two Trans-Tahoe-Relays, and a the open-water swimming events that crossed golden gate bridge, and from Alcatraz to the SF shore.
Really looking forward to the full SF triathlon, and be part of Team R.O.C.K. to help the kids!
