It's been amazing to see ELM Community Charter School grow from Priscilla Walton's deep desire to serve the Elmhurst, Queens community into the real deal - serving over 400 elementary students in District 24. And I was thrilled to be asked to serve on ELM's board of directors last fall and join this mission.
Walking ELM's halls and talking to the dedicated staff and enthusiastic students, you can see and feel the inspiration, potential and a deep sense of community. Leaders and world changers are being educated here!
To prepare to change their communities and the world, students need the right tools and ELM is in need of a technology upgrade - particularly Macbooks and iPads that will be integral in helping them:
- Learn skills for future career paths including learning coding
- Engage with different platforms to express creativity in their clubs and arts and media classes
- Demonstrate their progress by completing state tests online (fun fact: in 2022, Elm's 3rd & 4th graders outperformed their district peers in both English Language Arts and Math state tests!)
We would appreciate any support you can give!
