The Texas Nationalist Movement stands as the premier political organization dedicated to the complete, total, and unencumbered political, cultural, and economic independence of Texas. Founded in 2005, we are the largest and most influential organization advocating for Texas independence, with declared support from over 600,000 Texans across all 254 counties.

We believe that Texans, like all people, have the fundamental right of self-determination. The current political union has strayed far from the vision of its founders, transforming from a federative republic of sovereign States into a centralized superstate that crushes individual liberty and State sovereignty under the weight of an ever-expanding bureaucracy.

Texans are tired of living under 180,000 pages of Federal laws, administered by 440 separate Federal agencies and 2.5 million unelected bureaucrats. We're sick of having our lives dictated by politicians we didn't elect, forcing policies on us that we don't want. The Federal Government has become the stereotypical bully in every sense of the word, and it's time for Texas to stand up and reclaim our birthright of self-government.

Our Mission

Our mission is straightforward: to secure and protect the political, cultural, and economic independence of the nation of Texas and to restore and protect a constitutional Republic and the inherent rights of the people of Texas.

We pursue this mission through three primary avenues:

• Political Action: We work within the existing political framework to advance legislation that would move Texas toward independence and, ultimately, give Texans a voice on independence through a referendum. Like our counterparts in Scotland and the United Kingdom, we believe the people of Texas deserve the right to vote on their political future.
• Education: We educate Texans about their right of self-determination and the practical realities of independence. Too many Texans have been conditioned to believe they are incapable of self-government, when the truth is that Texas already possesses every structural component necessary to operate as an independent nation.
• Organization: We build the political infrastructure necessary to make Texas independence a reality. This includes organizing supporters, training activists, and creating the networks required to effectively compete in the political arena.

Why Texas Independence Matters Now

Texas stands at a crossroads. We can continue down the path of ever-increasing Federal control, watching our liberties erode and our prosperity diminish, or we can choose the path of our ancestors who fought for independence in 1836. The choice is ours, but the window of opportunity won't remain open forever.

The Federal system is broken beyond repair. The national debt exceeds $37 trillion and grows by the minute. Federal regulations strangle our economy, costing the average Texas household hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost income over a lifetime. Meanwhile, Texans send approximately $103 billion more to Washington annually than we receive back – money that could solve our education, infrastructure, and border security challenges if it stayed in Texas.

We have a choice. We can continue to be the cash cow for a failing Federal system, or we can stand tall among the nations of the earth as our own Republic once again.

Our Track Record

Despite operating on a modest annual budget, the TNM has achieved remarkable success in advancing the cause of Texas independence:

• Major Political Victories: The Republican Party of Texas officially included calls for Texas independence in their party platform. Plank No. 20 reasserts Texas' right to sovereignty, while Plank No. 203 urges the Texas Legislature to pass a bill for a referendum in the general election. This represents the first time a major political party has formally endorsed Texit.
• Legislative Breakthroughs: Ten candidates who signed the TNM's Texas First Pledge were elected to the Texas Legislature, creating an unprecedented bloc of pro-independence lawmakers committed to supporting referendum legislation.
• Financial Independence Victories: We celebrated the passage and signing of House Bill 1056, establishing a transactional digital currency backed by gold and silver through the Texas Bullion Depository. This landmark legislation allows Texans to use gold and silver as legal tender, marking a crucial step toward economic sovereignty.
• Explosive Growth in Support: Public backing for Texas independence has grown dramatically, from single digits in 2005 to 66% of likely voters by 2022. 
• Historic Grassroots Mobilization: In 2024 alone, we submitted over 140,000 signatures in support of independence, demonstrating unprecedented grassroots momentum. We've launched our first county branches in 2025 and are preparing to establish branches in 64 counties covering 78% of Texas voters.
• Media Transformation: We've successfully elevated Texit from a fringe concept to mainstream political discussion, generating coverage from major outlets including Newsweek, The Texas Tribune, and national media, keeping Texas independence in the public conversation.

How Do We Make Independence Happen?

The path forward is clear. We must build the political support necessary to pass legislation in the Texas Legislature to move Texas toward independence calling for a referendum on independence. Once Texans have the opportunity to vote, we're confident they'll choose self-determination over continued subjugation to a distant and increasingly tyrannical Federal Government.

This requires organization, education, and resources. Every contribution helps us build the movement, educate fellow Texans, and advance the cause of independence through the political process.
