The Counseling Place has been serving the mental health needs of the greater Richardson community since 1979. Originally founded to address the mental health needs of adolescents who experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences, the mission has evolved to provide affordable professional counseling and education services that strengthen the community.

Over the years, youth services expanded to include the Juvenile First Offender Program, drug awareness programs, professional counseling, and Project Positive (an education course teaching mental health skills to adolescents.)

The most active program at The Counseling Place is the Victims’ Assistance Program providing advocacy and free professional therapy to victims of all ages and their loved ones.

Services under the Community Counseling Program are for individuals of all ages and families who are dealing with grief, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, or major life changes that do not meet the criteria for free services under the Youth or Victims’ Assistance Programs.
