The Eastside Community News Fund will be used to help pay for the ongoing cost of producing community news, local government coverage and information by the staff at The Eastsider, a hyperlocal newsroom covering the Eastside neighborhoods of Los Angeles.

All reader support — monthly and one-time — will go into the Eastside Community News Fund, which supports our reporting on local government and Eastside communities and people. We will publish a brief report with our quarterly updates, showing how much we have raised and how much was spent to cover the news.

Among the uses for the funds:

• Salaries and benefits for reporters, editors and support staff

• Freelance fees for writers, photographers, data journalists, researchers, etc;

• Computers, cameras and other equipment related to editorial coverage

• Mileage, Freedom of Information requests and other expenses related to editorial coverage

• Online services related to editorial coverage

• Career training and education for staff
