What is the Fantasticks?

The longest-running play in American history, The Fantasticks is a musical fantasy in which two neighbors fake a feud to trick their children, Matt and Luisa, into falling in love. They even hire an itinerant bandit, El Gallo, to stage Luisa's fake kidnapping. This ploy succeeds brilliantly – that is, until the young couple discovers the truth.

Since its premiere at a tiny off-Broadway theatre in 1960, The Fantasticks has been produced all over the world. Audiences are dazzled by its unforgettable music, its simple and timeless story, and its warmth, humor and heart. Now, this October, The Fantasticks is coming to Pioneer Square, to a historic theatre located in Seattle's underground.
