The New Sound Initiative is the nonprofit arm of The Network Studios, Los Angeles’ premier podcast recording studio. Founded by TNS co-owner Kenyon Ates, the initiative connects this dynamic production hub to the local community. Initially launched as a new media curriculum for middle and high schools and youth-focused nonprofits, the program empowers students to develop, record, and share their podcasts using professional studio resources.
In less than a year of informal service to students across Los Angeles County, The New Sound Initiative formally incorporated in October 2024 to expand its reach and amplify its impact. With The Network Studios poised to grow into new markets nationwide, The New Sound Initiative aims to scale its programs accordingly. The long-term vision includes establishing new media-focused charter high schools, providing transitional housing for need-based families of enrolled students, and creating digital art galleries to showcase the untapped creativity and innovation of local community members.
