The Safe Sleep Project is a focused initiative by the Transgender Emergency Fund of Massachusetts (TEF) to expand and strengthen the living environment within our Transitional Housing Programme. Through this campaign, we are seeking to purchase new bunk beds, mattresses, and essential bedding to better support the individuals who rely on our programme for stability, safety, and a path forward.

For many of the people we serve, access to safe, consistent housing is not just a need; it is the foundation for rebuilding their lives. A bed is more than furniture; it represents security, dignity, and the ability to rest in an environment free from harm. By upgrading and increasing our sleeping capacity, we are not only improving conditions for current residents but also enabling us to welcome additional individuals in urgent need of housing.

The addition of bunk beds will allow us to maximise our existing space in a thoughtful and structured way, increasing the number of residents we can safely accommodate without compromising programme quality. New mattresses and bedding will ensure that every resident has access to a clean, comfortable, and affirming place to sleep, something that is too often out of reach for the community we serve.

The Safe Sleep Project directly supports TEF’s mission to provide stability and opportunity for transgender, nonbinary, and gender non-conforming individuals experiencing housing insecurity. With these improvements, we can expand our impact, reduce barriers to entry, and offer more individuals the chance to rest, recover, and begin the process of moving toward long-term independence.

This campaign is an investment in both immediate safety and long-term success because everyone deserves a safe place to sleep.
