🐾 Four Tiny Lives Given a Second Chance 🐾

Sometimes rescue isn't convenient. Sometimes it doesn't fit into the plan. Sometimes you're already full.

But sometimes you look at four tiny kittens who are out of time, and you make it work.

This week, we received heartbreaking news from an animal control facility that was preparing to euthanize the cats in their care. When we saw these four little boys—just 6 weeks old and barely starting their lives—we knew we couldn't let them become part of that statistic.

Were we full? Absolutely.

Did we have room? Not really.

Did we make room anyway? Without hesitation.

While Abby carefully rearranged cats within the rescue and opened up two precious cages, our president, Nancy, coordinated with other rescue organizations throughout Saginaw County to save as many lives as possible. Then she loaded eight cat carriers into her personal vehicle and drove two hours each way to help make it happen.

Because of those efforts, not only were our four kittens saved, but seven additional carriers filled with kittens, teenagers, and mama cats were transferred to safety through rescue partners instead of facing euthanasia.

Today, every one of those cats has a future.

We would like to take a moment to recognize Nancy for her incredible dedication. The countless hours of planning, coordinating, driving, and advocating for these animals often happen behind the scenes, but they are the reason so many cats are alive today.

And now we'd like to introduce our newest arrivals:

The "Zoo Babies" are safe, loved, and settling in after a long journey. These little boys came from a facility without air conditioning and are already enjoying the comfort of a cool, safe place to sleep. Tomorrow they will see our veterinarian for their first exams.

At just around 6 weeks old, these babies are still incredibly tiny. They aren't even 1 pound yet and won't be ready for adoption for several months. Before they can find their forever homes, they will need:

• Veterinary exams
• Vaccinations
• Deworming
• Microchips
• Neuter surgeries when they are old enough
• Any additional medical care they may require as they grow

We estimate their care will cost approximately $200 per kitten, or $800 total.

Today, they are alive because rescue stepped in.
