The Arts Center of the Capital Region is celebrating another successful year as a home for the region’s creative enterprise. Thanks to you, we provide accessible arts education to our community, empower local artists through grants and exhibitions, and create vibrant public art spaces. Thanks to you, we inspire creativity and artistic connection throughout the towns, cities, and neighborhoods of our service area.

Thanks to you, we fulfilled our mission in new and exciting ways. Our classrooms welcomed 2,500 individuals through 450 daytime and evening classes, offered seven days a week, as well as an incredible growth year for our kids summer camps program. We expanded our community outreach through the Fish Market Project, providing a free and open space for artistic expression in Troy’s North Central neighborhood. We also fostered growth for the region’s artists through our Critical Forum program and partnerships with DJ Trumastr Trimingham, Creative Action Unlimited and area choreographers in order to better showcase our area’s incredible talent.

Thanks to you, we continued investing in the Capital Region’s aspiring and established artists. We awarded $474,000 in grants to 127 artists and arts organizations, supporting a vibrant creative community. These grants are “pass through” dollars that we are grateful to the State of NY for funding. Our public art program continues to serve the region. Our largest program of the year, Troy Glow, installed cutting edge light installations by artists from all over the country. This festival, along with other numerous events and activations, brought much needed cultural tourism to our business friends, partners, and neighbors throughout Troy. Here, in our Jane Altes Gallery we hosted a variety of exhibitions including Dig Deeper, and intimate exploration of Troy’s famous clay as a living historical artifact.

Thanks to you, we have so much to look forward to. Our ambitions are huge and yet our budgets are still reeling from the impact of COVID and its aftermath. We are grateful to receive funding for our special projects, but our costs to maintain our facility, operate, and serve you have increased beyond our current capacity to meet them. Your support is vital to making so many dreams a reality.
