Who We Serve

We provide help and support for sexual assault survivors on the Hampton Roads Peninsula.

"I initially sought counseling at The Center, after months of grappling with self-critical thoughts, anxiety, sleep issues, and body image concerns. I kept having flashbacks of the sexual assault I experienced. After 12 sessions, I noticed significant progress within myself– my anxiety had lessened, I felt better about myself and noticed my self-esteem was higher. I was able to start dating again, as I felt a bit more comfortable with others in my space.

During my time with my counselor, I gained insights into healing from trauma, adopted mindfulness, learned coping strategies, how to establish healthy relationships and embrace affirmations. I now am able to express my emotions, set boundaries, prioritize self-care, and embody self-compassion and resilience. Before The Center, I felt I was merely existing, but now I feel alive and confident while on this journey of healing and growth.

I successfully achieved my treatment goals, now identifying as hopeful, confident, and capable. After counseling, I was able to seamlessly transition to a life coach and I maintain my connection with legal advocacy and a women's support group at The Center."
