I have worked on and off in the HIV/AIDS field since I began as a wee little volunteer in 1992. That was a time when a HIV/AIDS diagnosis was a death sentence and at the time of diagnosis, one would begin funeral planning. It was a devastating time and we have come so far, yet we still have so far to go. An HIV/AIDS diagnosis is no longer a death sentence, however there is an incredible amount of stigma and lack of trust in the medical system. This is now my full time work and I work hard to carry the education message in everything I do. I have even educated family members that still thought of HIV/AIDS as a death sentence. I have lost many friends to this disease, and don't want to lose any more! Although this is a new ride, with a brand new organization, I still feel the same draw to what I can do in the community at large to fundraise for the humans that this money will most impact. These funds will support a community still in crisis. Funds will support those in need where grant funding will not allow. Your support is noticed and not lost on the hopeless, in fact it offers hope to those most in need. Whether it is $5 or $500, your support has my heartfelt THANK YOU!!
