The Kiln Fund

Pottery is a cornerstone of The Arts Center of the Capital Region, and a home away from home for some of our most passionate and engaged constituencies. Rare is the hour when the pottery studio lights aren’t aglow, the kilns not humming, or the room lacks the spirit and energy of dedicated potters like you. Increased demand for classes, however, coupled with aging infrastructure, necessitates a major upgrade. We need your help funding an upgraded kiln.

We strive to provide cost-competitive classes and bring as many new and aspiring artists into the fold as possible. Our studios reflect this. Our kilns, for many years the pride of our organization, are not without limitations and they weren’t designed to last forever. They are showing their age. Student work is being delayed, pieces are underfired, and the creative flow is interrupted. It’s time to invest in a new Skutt KM Series kiln, perfect for supporting a wide range of ceramic firing needs from student projects to professional-level work.

Uncertainty in the manufacturing world leads to increased costs, and our budget can only withstand so much. Raising tuition is an absolute last resort. We know firsthand your passion for pottery and the meaningful community that has grown around it.
