Since 2017, our five writing studios have been the heart of The Mastheads’ programming. They are the site of our summer residencies and Fireside field trips. They are the physical spaces that connect us to, and help us build upon, the literary landscape of Pittsfield. 

After 9 years of minor maintenance and upgrades, the studios are ready for several major repairs. Surrounded by wet trees and meadow grasses and fully exposed to the sun, the studios are in need of new roofs, a bit of rot repair underneath the siding, and some insect-damage patching.

Our dedicated carpentry team has estimated $5,000 in necessary work for each studio over the coming year, for a total of $25,000. A small donation from each of our friends will allow us to preserve these spaces and continue working towards a Pittsfield with an inclusive cultural identity that can be built upon by residents of all ages.
