As of November 1, SNAP benefits for millions of people have been paused. Combined with rising unemployment, we’re facing a growing crisis. The most marginalized among us, Black women and LGBTQIA+ folks, are once again feeling the heaviest impact. The data is getting worse, and the safety nets are disappearing.

We had planned to launch this program in 2026 with more robust funding, but the moment is demanding that we move now, not later.

To meet this urgent need, Tenth House is launching an emergency round of micro-grants through The Nap Fund, distributing $150–$250 to those most affected. These grants will offer immediate relief for essentials like food, rent, and transportation, basic needs that shouldn’t be out of reach.

Providing relief now gives people a moment to rest, breathe, and think about their next steps instead of constantly operating in survival mode. Everyone deserves that chance to pause and rebuild with clarity.

We’re asking for donations of $10–$25 to help us reach our initial goal quickly. If you’re able to give more, please do. Every dollar will go directly toward keeping someone safe, fed, and supported during this critical time.

We’re not only focused on short-term help. We’re also using this moment to build systems that last. Alongside the micro-grants, we’re gathering resources for job search support, trade school access, and financial guidance so our community can find stability beyond this moment.

In 2020, our founder personally redistributed $15,000 to individuals affected by COVID-related job loss.
Now, we have the chance to do it again and even bigger.

Let’s move together with urgency and care. Let’s make sure our community doesn’t just survive this moment, but comes out stronger on the other side.

We see these pillars not just as sources of healing, but as the foundation for lasting social and economic resilience. Our mission is to restore collective well-being by rebuilding access to care, belonging, and financial stability through community infrastructure that sustains Black women and queer folks for the long term.
