Sadly, due to the explosive rise of the opioid crisis and the emergence of illicit fentanyl in our streets, neighborhoods, and schools, the United States is currently facing the deadliest humanitarian crisis of our lifetime. Over 100,000 Americans lose their lives each year to this epidemic. In light of these staggering statistics and the widespread collateral damage, we recognized an urgent need to provide education, resources, and awareness where it matters most — in the classrooms. This led to the creation of The Tucker Project.

The Tucker Project is a fentanyl education curriculum designed to be adaptable to any state’s standards. It’s customizable for various age groups and lesson plans, and it stays current with the latest threats through advanced AI technology.

The Tucker Project was founded by Stefanie Roe following the tragic loss of her 19-year-old son, Tucker Roe, who died after ingesting a single illicit Percocet pill purchased via social media. Stefanie’s determination to prevent other families from experiencing similar heartbreak inspired her to share Tucker's story, launching The Tucker Project with the mission of combating fentanyl's deadly impact and meeting students where they are — in the classroom.

We are dedicated to fentanyl education and awareness through interdisciplinary curricula. Our work began in response to the passage of House Bill 3908 (Tucker's Law), which mandates fentanyl education for students in grades 6 through 12. We pride ourselves on integrating fentanyl education across subjects like math, science, health, and history, ensuring a comprehensive approach that exceeds state standards while being customizable to meet diverse educational needs.

Our resources include both digital and hard-copy materials, ensuring accessibility for all learning environments. We also offer a variety of programs, such as the Teen Ambassador Program, which empowers students to advocate for fentanyl awareness, and assemblies that reach larger student groups. Additionally, we provide naloxone training to equip individuals with life-saving skills to respond to opioid overdoses. We maintain open communication with school staff and parents to ensure they are informed and engaged in our efforts.

Throughout the year, we offer various activities to engage students and reinforce the importance of fentanyl education. October’s Fentanyl Awareness Month serves as a key focal point for our outreach efforts.

Our partnerships are integral to our success. For instance, we have worked closely with the Texas TEA on a pilot program and recently completed a successful pilot in Georgia, which led to its statewide implementation. These collaborations demonstrate our commitment to expanding our reach and impact.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we are dedicated to serving the public and benefiting our communities. This tax-exempt status allows us to seek donations and grants that fuel our mission and help us expand our programs nationwide.
