The Virtue Center, founded in 1972 by Richard Virtue, a WWII veteran whose struggle with addiction cost him his family and successful business career, provides outpatient treatment services for substance use disorders, problem gambling and related mental health issues to approximately 2,000 individuals and their families each year.

Addiction is a chronic, progressive disease and if not treated, it is fatal.
Heightened anxiety, joblessness, financial difficulties and other stresses have spiked due to COVID-19, increasing the need for treatment of substance use disorders and related mental health issues; experts predict more than 14,000 additional Oklahomans may develop a drug use disorder, and an additional 4,500 Oklahomans may develop alcohol use disorders.
The economic impact of substance abuse is staggering - in Oklahoma its cost is estimated to be nearly $7 billion annually in expenses related to health care, public safety, incarceration, property loss and reduced productivity.
80% of all prison incarcerations are related to substance use disorder
1 in 5 children grow up in a home where a parent abuses dugs or alcohol; this can have long-term effects and increase the likelihood the child will develop a substance use disorder as an adult

96.8% of adult clients report making positive life changes
99.2% of adult clients report an elimination or reduction in use
