This Is Reno is committed to providing the vital and timely news our community needs—especially during a devastating and uncertain pandemic. We know a free press is part of what has made the United States strong and healthy as a nation, and recognize the value of holding those people and institutions you have placed into positions of trust accountable.

Like many other small businesses, locally owned news outlets have taken a financial hit during this crisis. Some of our advertisers (one crucial part of our business model) have drawn back on their ad spends because their own businesses have been directly affected by the changes we have recently experienced in the way our society lives, works and shops.

The necessary work of producing good journalism must go on. Our reporters and contributors will continue to sometimes place themselves at greater risk of exposure to the coronavirus as they perform their work. They do this because they want to serve you, our community, even during this pandemic, just as they do at all times. However, professional reporting doesn’t take place without costs, and all stories related to COVID-19 are posted outside of our paywall, free of charge.
