Threads of Change is a unique exhibition celebrating the power of traditional craft techniques to embody the complexities of nature. Through vibrant, tactile works of fiber art, it highlights the intersections of creativity, advocacy, and sustainability.

Threads of Change features extraordinary works by visionary artists:

Margaret and Christine Wertheim: Crochet Coral Reef—A breathtaking installation of crocheted coral forests that highlights the beauty and fragility of marine ecosystems.
Karen Norberg: Knitted Brains 1 & 2—Knitted models of human brains, offering a tangible exploration of neuroscience and cognition.
Bonnie Peterson: Geoscience Embroideries —Stunning silk and velvet embroideries that document data about our changing climate.
Nathalie Miebach: Extraordinary sculptures that embody climate data in unexpected and thought-provoking ways.
Adrian Baker: Net-Work—A knitted representation of the "Wood Wide Web," illustrating how trees communicate and provide essential support to one another through underground networks.
Sandra Sawatzky: The Black Gold Tapestry—A 220-foot embroidered masterpiece illustrating humanity’s complex relationship with oil across time.
The Knit Wits: Tempestries—Participants in a global initiative that uses hand-knit or crocheted temperature data to create visual representations of climate change, turning temperature records into beautiful, personalized works of art.

Even more exciting, all of these artists have agreed to travel to Atlanta to share their insights through talks, interviews, and panels. Their work demonstrates how traditional crafts can inspire a better, more sustainable world by merging creativity with advocacy.

To make this possible, we’re building a host committee to ensure these artists’ voices reach the greater Atlanta community. As a member of the Threads of Change Host Committee, you’ll be a guest of honor at all artist talks and invited to exclusive receptions with the artists themselves—a unique opportunity to engage directly with these extraordinary creators.
