Titus Strong Foundation Giving

February 7th, 2024. A day forever imprinted on our hearts — the day Titus Evan Parker passed away from Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC).

A person dies twice. The first is their physical death. The second is when their name is spoken for the last time on earth. We created the Titus Strong Foundation to ensure that Titus never experiences that second death. Our mission is to keep his legacy alive, long after we’re gone.

Each year, NEC affects over 3,500 babies in the United States, and tragically, over one baby a day dies from this devastating disease. Despite these numbers, NEC has not received the attention or resources that other life-threatening disorders have. The Titus Strong Foundation exists to change that, ensuring NEC gets the awareness it desperately needs.

We have partnered with the NEC Research Team at UNC Chapel Hill to fund and develop a cure. As Dr. Misty Good, lead researcher at UNC Chapel Hill, said: “We have the ability to get to step 10 in the NEC research process, but only have the funds to get to step 2.”

With your generous support, we can help turn step 10 into a reality — creating a world without NEC.

Our launch as the Titus Strong Foundation focuses on two goals:

1. Advancing NEC research at UNC Chapel Hill to push closer to a cure.
2. Establishing a fund at UNC in honor of Titus to drive these efforts forward.

Our campaign goal is $50,000. Here’s how your contribution can make an impact:

1. Creating the Titus Fund at UNC, which will be used by Dr. Misty Good and the Titus Strong Foundation to pursue a cure for NEC.
2. Developing a bedside screening tool that enables earlier intervention for babies susceptible to NEC, potentially saving lives.
3. Funding family resources that empower parents to better understand NEC and advocate for their babies.
