Team Zu Zu's Story

I never knew what a "soul dog" was until I met my big chunky hippo, Zuko, from TLRD. Rewind 10 months ago, I was heartbroken over the loss of my frenchie and looking for a way to give back to the community and heal. A good friend of mine named Carlo suggested I foster a pup in the meantime to keep me company through this difficult situation. My only requirement was that I needed a dog who SNUGGLED, was a couch potato, and was incredibly affectionate. Carlo knew just the dog for me and matched me with my perfect boy who I fostered for less than a month before I called him mine. Everyone knew I would "foster fail" except me. I think dogs find you at the perfect time you need them, and you find them when they need you. I'm such a huge believer in this organization because of all the hard work they do match-making their dogs to their potential owners while simultaneously teaching their dogs to be better suitable to adopt as well. This model of dog rescue is what has led to many successful adoptions, and it is why I will continually donate and support TLRD. They brought me my soul dog, and I hope this holiday season you find it in your heart to help a dog find their soul person too.
