Dale Forest, dedicated educator and MTA activist and leader, needs our help. Dale and his family recently learned that he has Stage 4 lung cancer, a type called Adenocarcinoma. This news is shocking to all of us, as Dale is just 57 years old, has never been a smoker and is in otherwise fine health.

Dale had just filed for retirement prior to receiving this diagnosis. There is no cure for the type of cancer that Dale has, but he will seek aggressive treatments, such as chemotherapy, at Mass General Hospital and hopefully be accepted into clinical trials for other treatments.

Dale and his family live on Cape Cod. They will be spending a lot of time traveling to Boston and staying over in the city as necessary. This will be expensive, and we can help Dale and his family cover these costs, especially as his wife Kathleen plans to take a leave from work to focus on Dale’s care.

Dale has done so much to build our union and to defend public education that I hope all of us can now show Dale how much we appreciate him by providing financial support as his family faces this unthinkable challenge.
