🚲 Rally to sustain a globally revered race! 🚲

Tour of the Gila is the iconic road bicycling stage race based out of Grant County, New Mexico. Since 1987, Tour of the Gila has become renowned worldwide for notoriously challenging courses, which lead from Silver City’s colorful streets, through the region’s rich history, and along the edges of the nation’s first designated wilderness.

In 2026, it is America's only road stage race that is sanctioned by the global governing body of cycling. Also sanctioned by USA Cycling, Tour of the Gila is the stage race targeted by competitive cyclists at all levels. Each athlete earns the badge Gila Proven when they complete Tour of the Gila, and many of whom return to southwest New Mexico to visit, to live, and of course to race again.

The 39th Tour of the Gila is set to run from April 29 - May 3, 2026. But, the race organization is facing a serious shortfall in funding to host this vital event. The nonprofits behind Tour of the Gila have been sustained by the local community, despite the race’s global importance. Now, the group asks the cycling community across the globe to contribute to Tour of the Gila in its 39th year.

At Gila Community and Tourism Development, we are confident that people like you are going to save the last remaining road bicycling stage race. While volunteers and donors in southwest New Mexico have been generous, the outside world now needs to play a role in making sure athletes at all levels have the chance to become Gila Proven.

Every connection, every dollar, and every share brings us closer to closing the gap in this year’s race budget. Together, we have sustained Tour of the Gila for nearly four decades. Together, we’ll ensure Tour of the Gila is an experience offered athletes for the next four decades.
