Tracey's Legacy

Dear Friends and Supporters,

I wanted to share some personal news with you. After six incredible years as Sonrisas’ CEO, I'll be leaving October to embark on my next chapter with my new husband—traveling and spending precious time with our family.

When I was chosen by the board in 2019, I never imagined we'd face challenges like a global pandemic, yet I'm incredibly proud of what we've accomplished together. We've increased our school screenings by over 400% and now provide 16,000 dental visits annually—a 50% jump since I started.

What keeps me awake at night is knowing that healthcare equity is getting worse in our country, not better. With Medicaid changes looming, more of our neighbors will face impossible choices between groceries and getting a cavity filled. But here's what I love about our Sonrisas family—we refuse to step back when times get tough. We step UP.

Our Pescadero clinic project is one way we are stepping up. For over 20 years, we've provided care for farmworkers in Pescadero and surrounding farming communities. Next July, we'll open our new RV clinic in partnership with Puente de la Costa Sur—not only continuing to serve farmworkers, but expanding to provide care for low-income adults and children throughout the community. We'll expand 7 weekly dental visits into over 45, becoming the ONLY dental clinic in rural Pescadero.

While I won't be Sonrisas’ CEO when we cut that ribbon, you can bet I'll be there celebrating what we built together.

The need is urgent and growing. I'm asking you to step up with us—so children don't miss school with toothaches, so seniors don't have to choose between utilities and dental care. Your support funds healthcare justice.

Thank you for letting me serve this mission we all believe in.

With gratitude,

Tracey Carrillo Fecher
