Friends and family, we are devastated by the loss of life that occurred in a tragic bus incident in Arusha, Tanzania over the weekend. A group of YWAM staff was traveling back from an outreach when they were tragically hit by a truck with faulty brakes. At this point, 11 YWAM-affiliated individuals have passed and many more are in critical condition.

We are heartbroken to learn that John Mukolwe has passed away. For those who might not be familiar, YWAM Arusha is the base that we have worked with for the past 10 years. John was the leader of the base and the brother of our dear friend, Geoffrey Mukolwe, who has generously hosted our team on almost 10 occasions. The Mukolwes have become a second family to us, always being so gracious and loving to our team, welcoming us with open arms, and teaching us (patiently) about Tanzania and its beautiful people.

This tragedy comes less than two years after the Mukolwes lost their father and the family has suffered greatly. 100% of the funds generated from this will go directly to the family to help with funeral costs, travel for John’s family to attend the funeral, and any area of need that has resulted from this tragedy. Please keep this family in your prayers and near to your hearts in the coming months.

Lord, thank you for the witness that John had here on earth. We pray that his legacy would be carried through the many people who were fortunate to serve alongside him. Would you bring a peace and comfort that surpasses all understanding to those affected by this loss of innocent life? Amen.
