Since 2021, the Metro Food Justice Network (MFJN) has grown from an incubated project into a living, community-led movement advancing racial equity and transforming the Twin Cities food system. By centering Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) through collective power and shared resources, we bridge the gap between grassroots urgency and systemic change.

This isn't just a network of organizations; it is an ecosystem of mutual care, policy advocacy, and cultural healing. As one network member shared, MFJN provides space for "holding space to heal, grow and be an authentic self with love," ultimately making local food leadership feel "stronger, safer, and more resilient."

Right now, we are working to sustain this momentum. Our immediate need is to secure a critical funding bridge from August through October. This funding ensures that our Network Weavers can continue to support action teams, foster events like the Fall plenum, and more. Our immediate goal is to continue our work uninterrupted through the fall harvest season and legislative prep cycles.

Our long-term goal is to future-proof food justice collaboration in Minnesota. By shifting power away from siloed funding streams and anchoring our infrastructure in collective community investment, we ensure MFJN remains a lasting resource for all.
