Jacksonville is facing a journalism crisis. As local media have faced cuts over the last two decades, the community has lost watchdogs who can cover the stories of poverty, inequity and policy.
The Tributary is a nonprofit startup newsroom of investigative journalists who believe journalism can make Northeast Florida a more vibrant and just community.
Rather than competing with shrinking local newsrooms, The Tributary will partner with outlets in Northeast Florida to tell these stories to the broadest, most diverse audience possible for free, strengthening the local news ecosystem, increasing the supply and demand for quality journalism, and preserving our community’s civic life and democratic institutions.
The Tributary doesn't intend to compete on the same stories already being told well by local news outlets. Instead, The Tributary will seek out stories on beats currently undercovered — from housing and policing to pollution and transportation. But we can't do it without your help. Every dollar you give helps build a new nonprofit business model that strengthens democracy in Northeast Florida.
If you believe local news and information are critical, especially during this crisis, please contribute to Local Media Foundation in support of The Tributary Reporting Program, and help us build a sustainable news organization for Jacksonville. Start by clicking the "Donate" button on this page. All donations are tax-deductible.
