Tristan Clarridge and Simon Chrisman have been playing music together for over 20 years, across a long list of bands and projects. Somehow, in all that time, they’ve only played one duo show.

This is one of the few chances to hear them this way — just the two of them.

Their music pulls from old fiddle tunes, chamber music, bluegrass, and their own compositions. It’s technical, but not showy. Rhythmic, but not rushed.

About the Artists

Noted acoustic music weirdos Tristan Clarridge and Simon Chrisman have been musical compatriots for a long time, in a variety of different situations (from the Bee Eaters to Jeremy Kittel Band to the Rozumatics), and are thrilled to be playing a few duo shows this year… a side of themselves they rarely get to perform. In fact in the 20 plus years they’ve been making music together, only one duo show has been played. Join them to see what has been brewing in this long time collaboration.

Tristan Clarridge is a 5-time Grand National fiddle champion and 3-time Grand Master fiddle champion who began music studies before the age of two. As a cellist, he has toured the world for 2+ decades and recorded critically acclaimed albums with The Bee Eaters and Crooked Still, as well as with Darol Anger's Republic of Strings, Sean Watkins (of Nickel Creek), Hanneke Cassel, Keith Little, Laurie Lewis, Jody Stecher, Jeremy Kittel, Seamus Egan, Mike Marshall, Abigail Washburn, Natalie MacMaster, and others. At the nudging of Darol Anger, Tristan found himself amidst a cello revolution, synthesizing traditional folk and fiddle influences along with rhythmic vocabulary from jazz, rock, and pop music.

Composer and hammer dulcimer virtuoso Simon Chrisman brings an unusual style to an instrument that has previously been thought to have limited range and technique, combining "chamber music’s finely calibrated arrangements with bluegrass’s playful virtuosity and pop music’s melodic resourcefulness." (The Boston Herald) His touch and sophisticated rhythmic sensibilities are redefining the instrument and earning the attention of musicians from all over the world. Based in California, he tours with Grammy-nominated Kittel and Co, the Bee Eaters, Wes Corbett and Tony Furtado.
