Story
CB Family,
When it rains, it pours! AND it is pouring pretty hard!
A couple of weeks ago we noticed some blood on Grace's lower lip. It was dried and not bleeding and looked as though she had somehow cut it, perhaps arguing with a herd mate. As it healed, we noticed it looked more raised so we had our vet check her out. It was a tumor that finally reached the surface and caused an abscess. This will be removed, and Grace will also be spayed on this same visit. She is one of the last few, from a large hoarding case, needing her spay.
When our vet was here this week, to recheck our sweet Olivia, Bella came over and nudged her for a belly rub. As she was rubbing her belly, she noticed something that felt odd. Upon examination, she found that Bella has a tumor in her mammary gland. This will need to be removed this coming week.
Wynona is one of the York SC 6 we rescued from slaughter earlier this year. She is ready for her spay, and once she recovered, she and her brother will be going to their new forever home!
Storm, Magneto, Pyro, and Nightcrawler are all Jules' babies and need their neuters this week. Neutering them not only prevents breeding, but it helps ensure they don't develop cancers associated with unaltered pigs. This also gets them ready for their new homes!
All of this is incredibly expensive but these tumors MUST BE REMOVED and reproductive surgery has to happen so these sweet babies can be adopted ASAP!
Donate today, and as a bonus to everyone who donates $30 or more, we will send you a "FOR THE ANIMALS" Car Sticker as a thank you!
We educate the public on the conditions the typical farm animal lives in on factory and organic farms, and why farm animal sanctuaries are needed so badly in the US. We encourage compassionate choices in our everyday lives regarding what we eat, wear, and use for entertainment. By reducing demand for animal products, we can reduce the number of animals in need of rescue, and we can help reduce the number one cause of negative impact on our environment: animal agriculture.
We welcome everyone, no matter where you are on your journey of compassionate living. Every step in the direction of making a better life for even one animal is a step in the right direction and we acknowledge that effort.
We are a group of volunteers of all different ages, genders, orientations, religions, races, and backgrounds who all come together for one purpose: to help pigs in need. If your desire is to help pigs, we welcome you to Cotton Branch Farm Animal Sanctuary!
