Liberación Collective: Sudan 🇸🇩 & U.S. Migrants

Liberación Collective is a series with the goal to educate, draw the parallels amongst different global issues and find connective tissue amongst marginalized communities. Liberación Collective: Sudan & U.S. Migrants is our next event presented by Travel With Purpose & The Heart Dept which will take place in Inglewood, CA on August 30th. Confirmed to perform is multi-platinum Cuban-American activist, songstress & songwriter Lauren Jauregui, Latin GRAMMY nominated Mexican-American artist DannyLux, Sudanese violinist & vocalist Zanib, Xochimilca artist and activist Xiuhtezcatl, Mexican-American singer-songwriter Doris Anahí and Afro-Caribbean conceptual word artist from South Central LA, Def Sound. Poets who will be performing include poet, actor & screenwriter Yazmin Monet Watkins, Mexican fronterize multi- disciplinary artist Vianney Harelly and Palestinian poet, journalist, actor, and co-founder of Poets for Palestine Hamoudi Ahmad. Sounds by KCRW’s Jeremy Sole, workshop by Artists Against Apartheid & a special panel by Summer of Resistance Coalition.

Funds raised will be directed to 3 non-profit organizations that assist U.S. Migrants and families in Sudan. The two organizations focused on U.S. Migrants are NDLON, an organization that improves the lives of day laborers, migrants and low-wage workers and CHIRLA, which works at the intersection of immigration law and employment law. For Sudanese families we will be working with the Sudan American Charity which provides assistance to needy families in Sudan by providing food and shelter to orphans & families and helps with the cost of health care & educational needs.

Sudan is facing the largest displacement & humanitarian crisis in the world. The genocide has displaced over 11.6 MILLION people and over 500K babies have died of hunger. In the US, we are seeing violent attacks on our migrant communities every day which is causing hard working families to be torn apart.
