Fresno Barrios Unidos is a social justice nonprofit with over thirty years of service in Fresno/Fresno County, dedicated to empowering historically challenged youth through health, wellness, and advocacy. The movement traces back to the 1970s, starting as a violence intervention with a Chicano grassroots approach. Since becoming a 501(c)(3) in 1994, Fresno Barrios Unidos has been a constant pillar, adapting to community needs.

Mission

Our mission is to achieve food sovereignty, end mass incarceration, foster generational healing, and lead in climate adaptation, recognizing that education and access are essential components. By healing the land, we heal ourselves, all for the benefit of the next seven generations, ensuring a sustainable, equitable future.

Vision

Empowering our communities through a generational approach, we envision a future where youth are the stewards of thriving sustainable ecosystems. By fostering intergenerational healing and cultural revitalization, we equip youth with the knowledge, skills, and resilience needed to lead in addressing the interconnected challenges of food sovereignty, mass incarceration and climate adaptation.
