Habitat for Humanity of Montezuma County (HFHMC), a small rural county in Southwest Colorado, is hoping to finish this small starter home for a single mom before winter. We have run into some delays and cost overruns and are trying to raise an additional $75,000 to cover completion. We have received several small grants, but because of circumstances beyond our control, construction has been periodically delayed with added costs.

Any leftover funds will be used for several home repair projects for our Aging in Place program, that helps senior citizens stay in their homes with ADA access, more energy-efficiency, and improving plumbing, roofing and even landscaping.

Habitat for Humanity of Montezuma County believes that everyone has the right to live in safe, affordable housing. We serve a county of about 25,000 persons, many below the poverty line. We also serve members of three Native American Nations here in the Four Corners.

HFHMC is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that also serves a neighboring county of just 2,000-plus individuals. In fact, we just completed an Aging in Place repair in Dolores County for an 80-year-old veteran who needed a walk-in tub/shower, new plumbing, ADA ramp and other repairs.

We also are in the process of repairs on a home for two disabled senior citizens in Montezuma County, and hope to complete some additional repair projects before winter.
