Giving Tuesday is a world-wide day of giving to help non-profits continue their beneficial work in local communities. Helping Hands and the Gateway House for Women have been busy working with men and women who are seeking to overcome addiction and find Hope for a future of sobriety. Substance abuse has become an even bigger epidemic since COVID brought all in-person support groups to a halt. Every community no matter how small or rural, how large or metropolitan, has a drug abuse problem that leads to destruction of families, health, and far too often, death. Wayne County has seen four drug-related deaths in the past three months.

WCHH exists to help men and women break the chains of addiction and become productive members of society. In 2020 WCHH opened a Gateway House for women who need a safe place to stay as we help them find a long-term life recovery program. Our services are offered free of charge and are funded by donations from individuals, businesses, and churches.
