Socarrado is a meditation anchored in the landscape—shaped by its elements and in quiet dialogue with them, a site-specific installation that reflects on the profound loss of both truth and reality in our increasingly virtual era. Crafted as a circular structure from the burned Incense Juniper trunks, the installation is centered around a dome shaped like a Lobera, a traditional feature from the Castilian sheep-herding landscape used to protect the most vulnerable of the flock from predators. This installation offers a poignant critique of modern disconnection from truth and reality—a time when virtual lives and curated avatars overshadow authentic human experience creating voids that are easily commodified by digital predators. By offering an ephemeral temple for stillness and reconnection with the tangible, Socarrado becomes a quiet but powerful act of resistance— urging visitors to reclaim presence, embrace silence, and restore authenticity. A reminder that even in destruction, there is space for reflection, reconnection, and renewal.
