From Street Code To unity Code: A Dangerous Mission To End Generational Violence

In the heart of Chicago—a city known for its vibrant culture, but also for its deep-seated violence—there was a young boy named Qadir Hakim. Like too many children in underserved communities, Qadir watched the streets devour his friends. He watched dreams dissolve into gunfire, and brilliance extinguished before it ever had the chance to shine. Gang violence wasn’t just on the newsit was at his doorstep, in his classroom, in his family.

But something happened that changed the trajectory of Qadir’s life. His mother, a woman with vision and unwavering courage, made a choice that saved her sons. She pulled them out of the chaos of public school and placed them into a private institution that taught self-love, discipline, and purpose. It wasn’t easy. It wasn’t convenient. But it was life-saving.

And that planted a seed in Qadir’s heart: “If I was saved, how can I not turn back and save others?”

That question never left him.

Years later, Qadir returned to Chicago’s public schools—not as a student, but as a security guard. Not armed with a baton, but with wisdom, empathy, and lived experience. The students others feared or discarded were sent to him. And while the system pushed them aside, Qadir sat with them. Listened. Taught. He saw the spark behind the anger, the hurt behind the bravado.

And every day, as he walked those hallways, another troubling pattern emerged.

He’d hear the music blasting through headphones and phones lyrics soaked in violence, disrespect, and despair. These weren’t just beats. These were blueprints. Reinforcements of the very pain and destruction Qadir was fighting to break.

He realized: the music was shaping the mindset.

Coming from a musical background himself where he’s also known by his artist name Goalden Chyld Qadir understood the power music holds. He knew firsthand that messages delivered through music reach people faster, deeper, and more permanently than almost any other medium.

So he made a decision: If negative music was helping destroy generations, then positive music had to be part of the rebuilding.

Still, the challenge wasn’t only what they were hearing it was what they were returning to.

Because when the school day ended, the streets reclaimed them.

No matter how much love or mentorship they received inside the building, the environment waiting for them outside didn’t change. Block by block, old cycles pulled them back in.

But what if the blocks could change, too?

What if the same influence that once recruited kids into violence could be retooled to recruit them into peace?

What started as one man mentoring students turned into something much bigger an organic, grassroots movement that began spreading from one neighborhood to the next. A movement built on the belief that the most influential people in each community yes, even those once caught in cycles of crime could become protectors, teachers, artists, and builders.

That’s how The Unity Movement was born.

What Is the Unity Movement?

The Unity Movement, launched from the lived experiences and vision of Qadir Hakim also known in music circles as Goalden Chyld is a fearless initiative that steps directly into the most dangerous neighborhoods and embraces those who society has labeled “lost causes.”

Instead of avoiding the street kings and queens, Unity recruits them.
Instead of fearing the misunderstood, Unity uplifts them.

By connecting with the most influential individuals in each neighborhood many of whom once led street organizations Unity retools that influence for peace, for purpose, and for transformation.

Through mentorship. Through storytelling. Through music. And through truth.

The results? Unprecedented peace accords. Healing circles in neighborhoods once ruled by bullets. Music that speaks strength and survival. Youth who return to their blocks not as threats, but as leaders.

Why This Movement Deserves Millions

    •    Art and Music as Tools of Revolution: From murals to cyphers, art and music are more than creative outlets. They are weapons against despair, platforms for truth, and bridges between generations and cultures.
By leveraging the influence of music and artists many of whom come from the same blocks as the youth they’re inspiring Unity spreads its message at the speed of sound. Instead of glorifying violence, the lyrics now glorify growth. Respect. Love. Survival.

One Final Story

There was once a young man who stood in front of a group of boys some of whom were enemies by neighborhood lines, separated by years of generational violence. But instead of exchanging threats, they sat in a Unity circle. They talked. They cried. They hugged.

That moment wasn’t televised. It didn’t trend. But in that small basement in Chicago, violence lost. And hope won.

That’s what Unity creates real change in real time.

Now imagine what we can do with real support.
