For the past year, Unity Salsa has been directly assisting homeless individuals throughout Tempe and the greater Phoenix area. The work is often difficult and can be heartbreaking, but we have been making significant strides in breaking these cycles of homelessness and addiction.

Currently, we serve clients on a case-by-case basis in 3 Stages:

Outreach
Rescue
Recovery

We have begun providing more services in the Rescue Stage– the most critical stage- where a person’s life truly changes trajectory.

We have now added the UNITY SALSA SOAR Program.

Unity Salsa recently became SOAR Certified, allowing us to assist disabled homeless individuals to obtain their SSI/SSDI, 'Disability’, benefits. These benefits equate to the housing and care that can potentially end a person’s homelessness, permanently.

The Disability application process is notoriously slow and includes a difficult list of tasks. Our help speeds up this process. But most significantly, we begin getting clients the physical and psychological treatments that they desperately need... sometimes for the first time in their lives.

Unity Salsa recently became a Qualified Charitable Organization (QCO) for Arizona’s Charitable Tax Credit program, because a majority of our operating budget is spent on basic needs services for the homeless and those at risk of homelessness.

You can donate up to $470 (single) or $938 (married), and it won't cost you anything!

When you donate and file your 2024 Arizona State taxes, the amount you donate is directly credited against your tax bill. If you owe money on your state taxes, the amount you owe will be reduced by the donation amount. If you're due for a refund, the donation will increase your refund by the same amount.

Your tax dollars will make an impact right here in our community, helping real people get the services they need. Your donation will pay for case-workers, transportation costs, and other direct expenses to serve individuals in-need.
