I come from a low-income country where many people struggle to meet their basic needs. When I shared my story with Josh and Josie, I discovered that our paths had crossed in a meaningful way. They founded The Springs of Salvation (SOS) with the mission to provide clean water to rural areas in Malawi, Africa. In December 2023, we visited Malawi and witnessed firsthand the daily struggles of the people—facing challenges related to access to water, food, education, and healthcare.

In response, we launched fundraising efforts for a water project, and by December 2024, we had successfully drilled 19 wells across various villages. In addition to this, we introduced a program called Education for All, aimed at promoting education for young people regardless of their

social status, religion, or gender. Through this initiative, we help finance education for underprivileged high school students, with just $60 covering an entire academic year for one student.

We also introduced the Women's Economic Empowerment program to address the challenges faced by women in Malawi. Traditionally, men are the primary breadwinners, which has exposed women to domestic violence and other forms of injustice. Our organization is empowering

women by providing financial support to start small-scale businesses, creating opportunities for economic independence and improving their lives.

Looking ahead, we are planning to launch a Food Security program in April 2025. Corn is a staple food in Malawi, but growing it requires fertilizer something most families cannot afford. As a result, many struggle to produce enough food to sustain themselves year-round. To combat

this, we will train members of the Village Development Committee in organic farming techniques, ensuring that the lack of inorganic fertilizers does not limit food production. This training, organized by The Springs of Salvation in collaboration with Nthawi Farm, is scheduled for April 21-26, 2025.

As someone who works at a farm and kitchen in the United States, I want to share the knowledge I’ve gained through the Sustainable Community Program and my hands-on experience. By teaching Malawians how to grow and prepare food, we can empower them to fight hunger and improve food security in their communities.
