Support Emily Johnson / Catalyst

Emily Johnson / Catalyst creates performance gatherings that are social choreographies, uniting audiences in shared experiences of movement, place, history and Indigenous thrivance. We strive to be in good relations with our human and more-than-human kin, as we support growing kinstillatory relations and sovereign, liberated futures. We are anti-colonial and abolitionist in all capacities. We are committed to on-the-ground water and land protection, consistent decolonization work, and Land Back.

ABOUT THE PRINTS
GATHER HERE is an invitation. A call. A sign held above our heads in performance, in protest. Once my nibling Ben gathered an audience together on the shore of Tuggeght beach. My Grandma was there, James Luna too. I can’t remember, but I hope I introduced them. It was stolen once, this sign. Or, taken? An audience member saw it on display and returned it, mailed it back from Duwamish land. It’s crinkled and old, this sign. It hangs on my fridge at the moment. I love it. It has power and history. It’s an archive and an action. It’s sharpie and poster board. In 2020 Kristy Edmunds and UCLA’s Center for the Art of Performance commissioned it as part of The Choreographers’ Scores: 2020. Lapis Press made a beautiful print. It’s not quite like holding the crinkled worn original, but it’s a pretty good ode to everyone who has gathered here and I love it too.

I have five prints left!
